Seriously one of the best Pinot values in California. 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from Arroyo Grande Valley (home of Talley’s estate vineyards) and Edna Valley. Hand harvested, fermented with native yeasts in open top containers, punched down by hand and aged for seven months in 20% new French oak. Restrained at 13.5% alcohol.
This vintage offers aromas of luscious cherry, toasted wheat bread, and chamomile, compliment the blueberry, candied raspberry, and chai flavors rounding to a condensed fruit finish. Medium bodied and very smooth. Perhaps the best value in California Pinot Noir!
Bishop’s Peak wines are handcrafted by Talley Vineyards (one of the most underappreciated producers of fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in California) to capture the varietal and regional diversity of San Luis Obispo County. Bishop’s Peak, an iconic local landmark, was chosen as the symbol for the brand, showcasing wines that are produced in small lots from vineyard sites in the Arroyo Grande Valley, Edna Valley, and Paso Robles Viticultural Areas as well as the Nipomo area south of Arroyo Grande. Some of these sites are owned by the Talley family while others are owned by growers who share the family’s commitment to quality. The wines balance production and quality to deliver exceptional value, while maintaining the same attention to detail that is the hallmark of Talley Vineyards.
90 points, Antonio Galloni's Vinous. "The 2023 Pinot Noir is an absolute delight. Aromatic and light on its feet, it offers up generous crushed red berry fruit, orange peel, mint and hints of spice. This mid-weight, vibrant Pinot offers tons of San Luis Obispo Coast character—it's a great value, too."
