100% organic (uncertified) Pinot Noir from the Peterson and Costa Vineyards, in the newly minted Comptche AVA of Mendocino County. 17 miles southeast of Fort Bragg. These neighboring vineyards sit in a prime spot 14 miles from the ocean in the Albion Wind Gap. Chimera refers to a rare albino redwood tree towering over the property. Hand harvested, fermented on native yeasts with 25% whole clusters. Aged for 10-mos in 28% new French oak. Bottled unfined/unfiltered with minimal sulphur. 13.4% alcohol. 400 cases made. This wine reflects the wild, remote, forested location of its origin with aromatic notes of sour red plum, roses, baking spice and mint. Light, juicy, and structured on the palate, with snappy notes of wild blackberry, red cherry, hibiscus and black tea. Give it some air to drink now and enjoy over the next 5-10 years.
