Aromas of peach, apricot, & nectarine with hints of honey & citrus finishing with an unexpected tannic dryness. Pairs well with fresh fruit drizzled with honey, raw nuts, & an array of soft cheeses. The fruit comes from old, dry-farmed, head trained vines on this 30 acre estate in Gilroy at the foot of Hecker Pass- the oldest Grenache vines on the property were planted in 1910! Managed by George Besson Jr., and his lead foreman of 20+ years, Michael Alvarado, the vineyard is owned by the Besson’s family fourth generation of brothers: George, Denis, Joe and Jeff. It’s a historic estate first purchased by George’s grandfather Jean Augustine, who emigrated to the Bay Area from France in the early 1900s and bought the property in 1925.
