A blend of organic and dry farmed Aglianico and Piedirosso from volcanic soils on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Fermented with native yeasts, three weeks on the skins. Aged in steel and small barrels. 13% alcohol. Minimal (20ppm)m sulphur additions.
Deep ruby red, with aromas of cherries, plums, and raspberries, interwoven with hints of black pepper , eucalyptus, tobacco and smokey volcanic ash. Medium-bodied with refined tannins and bright acidity. Perfect with pizza, pasta and charcuterie.
Poggio delle Baccanti is located in Sant’Antonio Abate, next to Naples in the Penisola Sorrentina, overlooking Mt Vesuvius. They have been making Neapolitan wines for 3 generations and specialize in Gragnano, Lacryma Christi Bianco, and Lacryma Christi Rosso. The winery farms organically and wines are all made with extremely low amounts of sulphur. The winery was founded in the 195os by Raffaele La Mura. Raffaele, the son of a winemaker, began at a young age to produce and market wine with his brother Paolo. Accumulated the necessary experience, he subsequently decided to start his own business by taking an interest in the various grape varieties of Campania and dedicating himself in particular to the production of Gragnano and Vesuvian wines. Now, his son Giovanni and nephew Raffaele run the estate.
