Yet another crazy value from Portugal and the folks at Parras!
40% Encruzado, 40% Malvasia Fina and 20% Bical. Fermented and aged simply in stainless steel. 12.5% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Light to medium bodied, with a fine, fresh, intensely fruity character. There is plenty of acidity while at the same time, the wine has hints of yellow fruits and aromatic spiciness. There are notes tart green apple, pear, lime zest and a stoney minerality.
About Parras Wines
Parras Wines is the project of Luis Vieira, who started the company in 2010. Luis’ involvement in the wine business stretches back much farther to the age of 5, when he fell into a vat of wine his grandfather made. So began his lifelong involvement in the wine trade. Today, Parras Wines operates vineyards and wineries on its own and in partnership with local producers from Liboa, Dão , Douro, Vinho Verde, Tejo, Alentejo and the Setubal Peninsula.
Surrounded by several mountain ranges, including the Serra da Estrela, the highest in the country, the Dão has mostly granite soils, with some areas of shale. The temperate climate, of the Mediterranean-continental type, protected from maritime influence by mountain ranges, is marked by altitude (75% of the area is between 400 and 700 meters), which immediately induces an excellent acid freshness in its wines.
