Equal parts Pinot Blanc and Pinot Auxerrois all estate grown and certified biodynamic on six acres of vines located due west of Strasbourg in the northern reaches of the Bas Rhin and nestled just under the grand cru Engelberg hill. The vines are all 50-60 years old and haven’t been tilled since the 1980s. Hand harvested. Native ferments with a pied de cuve. One year on the lees in stainless steel. Minimal SO2 additions. 500 cases made. 12.5% alcohol. This is some seriously classy juice (which is Mélanies style)! The Pinot Blanc gives floral notes and fine acidity; Auxerrois gives fat and spice. Clean and perfectly balanced, with crisp fruit notes of ripe pear, apple and lemon alongside delicate floral notes. Light to medium bodied and super smooth in the mouth, with just perfect acidity and a really long, lingering finish.
