This unusual orange wine is made from the Calabrian native grape varietal Greco Bianco grown in a single vineyard on the Comerci estate. The one hectare vineyard is planted on loose sandy soil with the presence of sandstone. The fruit was destemmed and softly crushed before fermenting naturally solely on its native yeasts. The skins stay in contact with the juice for 70(!) days in the submerged cap method. The wine then ages for only six months in stainless steel before being bottled unfined and unfiltered with no added sulfur. Only 1300 bottles were made.
Elegant and understated for an orange wine, with intoxicating aromas of peach syrup, dried apricot, hazelnuts, subtle herbaceousness and just a hint of vanilla bean. Full bodied, rich and soft, this feels almost like a red wine in the mouth. Finishes mineral and salty, with a some lingering tannin.
