100% organic (uncertified) Pinot Blanc from the deep, granitic soils of the stunning grand cru “Brand” in the village of Niedermorschwihr. Hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts. All vinification is in old foudre. 13.5% alcohol. Jean Boxler, Albert’s grandson, basically lives on the Grand Cru hillside of Sommerberg, where his holdings are clustered. This is truly brilliant stuff - lifted and zesty with a mineral-led palate that has excellent depth of fruit and a lovely texture, especially given the warm vintage. Pure and crystalline, with tons of freshness and a salty minerality that ensure this wine will age very well. There’s a concentration and complexity here that make this an exceptionally food-friendly wine. Not your average, boring Pinot Blanc. This estate has been here since 1673!
93 points, Wine Advocate."Blending very poor plots of the Grand Cru Brand with a parcel next to the domaine containing 50+-year-old vines, the 2020 Pinot Blanc Réserve offers a clear, intense and very elegant nose with lime notes and apple aromas on the pure and fresh, really stony bouquet. Round and very elegant on the palate, this is a dense, lush and salty Pinot Blanc that is much more dominated by the terroir than the grape variety. The wine has a purity and tension paired with finesse and perfectly ripe fruit and finishes with refreshing bright fruit aromas and this crystalline and salty minerality that lends it great aging potential, although this is already an impressive wine today. Gorgeous, especially given that warm vintage. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2022."
