100% certified organic Mavro Ambelissimo from 80-year old ungrafted, bush-trained vines in sandy, volcanic soil in a north-facing vineyard at 920 meters altitude. Indigenous fermentation with 80% whole clusters and 35 days of (gentle) maceration, all in stainless steel.
Tasting Notes
Super-light color. Light red fruits, delicately floral and herbal. Great acidity and liveliness. Anyone who likes Beaujolais, Poulsard, Schiava, Pelaverga, etc. should love this wine. Definitely chill it a bit (15-25 minutes) and then enjoy it with charcuterie, moussaka, pork, or lamb.
About Tsiakkas
Tsiakkas Winery was established in 1988 with a small production of 500 bottles in the town of Pelendri, near Limassol. The winery has grown in size to produce 150,000 bottles per year. They make wine from indigenous varieties as well as wines from international varieties like Cabernet, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Merlot. Gradually, their focus is shifting to the local Cypriot varieties. They rely to certain extent on their own vineyards, but also source fruit from vineyards where they have a long term relationship in place. Tsiakkas Winery prides itself on producing high quality wines that have improved in quality year after year. Cyprus is a wine producing island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, located 50 miles (80km) off the south coast of Turkey and slightly further from the west coast of Syria.
