100% biodynamic Pinot Noir. This comes a tiny vineyard, less than one acre, that Mélanie’s father planted in 1993 just northeast of the Engelberg grand cru site. “Rahn” means svelete in Alsacian, referring to the meager topsoil of this site. Hand harvested, native yeast fermentations, and aged in old Burgundy barrels. Bottled without fining or filtration with minimal sulfur. 13.5% alcohol.
93 points, Falstaff. "A touch of iron-oxide hovers on the red-fruited nose where the freshness of redcurrant plays despite the warm vintage. The palate also speaks of freshness, even of crunch of pristine, ripe but fresh, tart cherry. A lovely resonance of earth and perhaps a touch of oak round this out and make it into a sinuous, textured, elegant and fresh Pinot."
