100% organic (uncertified) Syrah hand harvested from 70+ year old vines on Côte Blonde. Fermented with native yeasts and 12% whole clusters. Aged for 18 months in older 300L barrelsand bottled unfined and unfiltered. This is the personal project of Stéphane Vedeau, of Clos Bellane fame, and is named after his mother Jeannine Boutin. Côte-Rôtie is considered the pinnacle of Syrah, and this wine doesn’t disappoint. Although its still incredibly young (it would be best to tuck this away for a decade+), this is already showing layers of red and black fruit, spice, pepper, smoke, black olive and a savory, meaty quality. Give this as much air as you can in the near term and watch it evolve over hours in the glass or days in the bottle. Surprisingly good value for Côte-Rôtie.
