100% certified organic and biodynamic Gamay St-Romain, a rare grape that’s something like a cross between Syrah and Gamay. The Côte Roannaise, known as “Volcanic Loire,” is at the foothills of the Massif Central overlooking the southern Loire. The Pothiers family has been farming here for generations. All granite soils, vines up to 70 years old and between 1200 and 1500’ elevation. Hand harvested, native yeast fermentation, and no sulphur additions- zero/zero. 9% alcohol. This is soft, fresh, fruity and clean- no Pet Nat funk or yeastiness at all. A wonderful aperitif, this is dry but not bone dry, with crisp acidity and tons of fresh strawberry fruit, melon and underripe peaches with savory hints. Have it by itself or with a pear, blue cheese and walnut salad.
