2021 Domaine Romy Bourgogne Rouge

100% certified sustainable Pinot Noir from the Pierres Dorées region of southern Beaujolais, close to Lyon and known as the “Tuscany of France.” Made in the Burgundy style with a 20-day maceration and aging on the lees for 9 months before bottling.  12.5% alcohol. This classically styled red Burgundy punches above its price point due to its “lowly” appellation. Light ruby red, with fresh notes of pure red cherry, cranberry, red berries and spice. Light in body, with medium-plus acidity and smooth, light tannins. Dominique Romy and his son Nicolas are the 9th and 10th generation winemakers at this 60 acre estate. Old-fashioned agriculture is king at Domaine Romy, with grass growing between the vines and special attention dedicated to green harvesting in order to lower yields and increase quality.
