100% organic Pinot Noir from a single Premier Cru vineyard located mid slope on the Chassagne side of Santenay. As the name suggests, derived from the French for gravel, soils are composed of gravelly limestone and impart a marked minerality on the wine. This is already delicious, with ripe dark fruits tinged with chocolate and coffee, rich, powerful and fat right through the lingering note of pure blackberry. Give it some air to show its best. Domaine Borgeot, in Rémigny, was founded in 1903 and is now run by brothers Laurent and Pascal Borgeot, the fourth generation of their family to manage the 48 acre estate. Their reputation locally is such that more-famous producers often send their children to apprentice at the domain.
