100% Pinot Noir. Grapes were picked and sorted by hand. Native fermentation took place in individual 2-ton batches in open top fermenters for about 10 days with 30% kept whole-cluster. Barrel-aging was completed in German and Austrian barriques for 12 months with 50% new barriques. After barrel-aging, the wine was then aged in stainless steel for 6 months prior to bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
The Sealift Vineyard is in the extreme and rugged Annapolis area of the “True Sonoma Coast,” just one mountain ridge away from the Pacific Ocean. This steeply sloped vineyard rests at an elevation between 700 –1,200 feet. The soil is composed of primarily Goldridge sandy loam and ancient seashells, providing excellent drainage and vine vigor control. This unique Pinot Noir was sourced from four different blocks from varying elevations, exposures, microclimates, and clonal material.
This Pinot Noir showcases unmatched elegance and finesse, grown in the extreme conditions along the Sonoma Coast. A stand-out wine with fresh raspberry and pomegranate on the nose that carries over into the well-structured palate. Notes of forest floor, conifer and fresh rain are balanced by warm spice and backbone of bright acid. A timeless wine that will age gracefully for the next 10 years.
