100% organic and biodynamic Gamay from clay and limestone soils. 8 days of semi-carbonic maceration in concrete tanks, then aged in concrete; bottled unfined/unfiltered with zero added suplhur; totally zero-zero! 12.5% alcohol. Light, soft, smooth and easy drinking, with cherry, strawberry, leather, pepper and a hint of funk on the nose that incorporates with a bit of air. You can chill this and chug it- it’s light in body but big on flavor and personality! David called himself a “Piranha” when he first started out - a small fish, but to be underestimated at one’s own peril.
David Large’s family has been making wine in Montmelas, in the southwest of Beaujolais, since 1840. He discovered biodynamic farming while working at Guigal and Chapoutier in the Rhône before returning to farm his 20 acres of estate wines. David is into music, film and comics, and there is a popular culture element to his labels, which he does himself. But while the wines are packaged in a playful way, they are pretty serious. He's become a very sought-after, culty producer for his energetic, playful and delicious wines
