100% Malbec from the Tupungatosubzone of Mendoza. Ageing for 11 months in 225 litre French oak (first to third use barrels), then 14 months bottled under controlled light, humidity, and temperature in the cellar imbues the wine with the richness and complexity of a truly great Argentinian Malbec. “Calathus” was a vase, seen on the label, used in ancient Rome to store and serve wine. 13.5% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Dark violet color. Lively and complex aromas of plums, black currants and mild notes of vanilla and spices. Medium-bodied, lively and well-rounded. Complex and friendly flavors and smooth but solid tanins. Lingering flavors of dark plum and mild spices in the finish. Pretty classic, well-made Malbec.

95 points, Decanter Magazine. "Multi-layered nose with wild mountain jarilla undertones over ripe prune, damson and chocolatey aromas, somewhat spicy. Elegant tannins with purity of fruit and freshness on the palate."
