100% Grenache grown on a flat, rocky, former riverbed along the San Joaquin delta near the town of Clarksburg. The grapes were harvested in the middle of the night to keep the grapes very cold and maintain the fruit aromatics and acidity. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in a 900-gallon French oak casks from Burgundy (15 times the size of a “normal” French oak barrel). Bottled unfined and with minimal sulphur. 13.8% alcohol. 389 cases made. Bright aromas of strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, blood orange, cinnamon, anise & lavender. Palate is chock full of juicy red fruit with vivid and lively acidity that keeps this super refreshing and nimble with some herbal notes.Medium bodied, with juicy acidity. For fans of Beaujolais. Very food friendly.
91 points, Wine Enthusiast. "A lighter garnet color and rather sunbaked aromas give this full-bodied wine a nicely mature, earthy aspect that's fun to taste. Hints of wood smoke, grilled plum and black tea add to the complexity of this broad-textured wine."
