100% sustainably farmed Spätburgunder (aka Pinot Noir) from multiple estate vineyards around Markgräflerland. Macerated for 6-8 weeks before being pressed and then fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in large, old wood barrels. Light to medium in body and full of classic tart, juicy red cherry fruit, light peppery spice notes and faint hints of vanilla. Smooth, light tannins and brisk acidity amke this a perfect house party red when served with a light chill. Ziereisen is located in the very southern part of Baden in a town called Efringen-Kirchen, directly on the Rhine river at the border of Alsace and Switzerland. The area is called Markgräflerland; another name is the Dreiländereck – the “three country corner”: Basel, Switzerland is the closest city.
